Cheap travel to Washington DC makes it a fun summer destination for those looking to stretch their holiday dollars. As you travel from DuPont Circle to Georgetown, you can enjoy street entertainment form local musicians. The public trains and buses in DC are a frugal way to see the city and get from place to place. In terms of the food scene, Washington DC offers a great variety of exotic ethnic eateries including some well known Ethiopian restaurants along the U Street corridor that offer delicious dishes for cheap.

For simple and delicious food served with a bit of history, Ben's Chili Bowl is highly recommended This restaurant has served celebrities like Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole, and offers lunch options for under $5.

Cheap travel in the US is easy for Europeans to find this summer thanks to an exchange rate that favors the euro and pound against the dollar. The pound is currently worth ten percent more against the dollar then it was last summer, and this can make the day to day costs of a US vacation a lot more affordable. Travel is still sluggish in the US as well, so there are plenty of good deals to be had.

Rooms in top San Diego hotels can cost as little as 120 pounds a night, and this includes extras such as wine served in the early evening. Some really good meals at restaurants can cost less than 25 pounds per person, and a liter of petrol costs about 68 pounds which compares very favorably to the 1.35 pound average in Britain. The catch, though, is that airfares have shot up due to increased air passenger duty and fuel charges.
